Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certificate
Enrolment in any of the following courses is open to
students who have satisfied all program entrance requirements and any/all
posted course prerequisites or equivalencies. Be advised: Students
who do not meet the prerequisites will be required to withdraw. In such cases,
CCE’s withdrawal/refund policies will
apply.
Students who wish to enter the program must:
- Have
an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent; or
- Be a
mature student as defined in the Undergraduate Calendar of McMaster
University; or
- Be
deemed an exceptional case by the Centre for Continuing Education
Payroll Experience
Prerequisite Application: Effective
January 2015, if you want to enroll in the PCP program, you must meet a payroll
experience prerequisite. Requirements are as follows:
- at least one year of weighted
payroll experience obtained within five years before or five years after the
start of the Payroll Compliance Legislation Course.

Requirement - Payroll Compliance Practitioner Courses
Students taking PAY 101, PAY 102 and PAY 103 will be
required to bring a laptop or netbook computer for the mid-term and final
exams. The computer should be able to connect to the internet either through
WiFi or an ethernet connection (wired). Computers may use Windows XP (service
pack 3), 7 or Vista or Mac OS. You will also need access to the internet to
complete some homework assignments.

Canadian Payroll Management (CPM) Certificate
Enrolment in any of the following courses is open to students
who have satisfied all program entrance requirements and any/all posted course
prerequisites or equivalencies. Be advised: Students who do not meet
the prerequisites will be required to withdraw. In such cases, CCE’s
withdrawal/refund policies will
apply.
Students who wish to enter the program must:
- Be a
certified Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP); and
- Have at least two years of experience with responsibility for an organization’s payroll function (obtained in the past five years), including being accountable to management for the accuracy of employees’ pay and all government statutory remittances, or equivalent experience; and
- Meet
the Canadian Payroll Association’s CPM Payroll Experience Prerequisite requirement; and
- Have
an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent; or
- Be a
mature student as defined in the Undergraduate Calendar of McMaster University;
or
- Be
deemed an exceptional case by the Centre for Continuing Education
NOTE: Each CPM student must submit a Payroll
Experience Prerequisite Application (PEPA) and receive approval from
the Canadian Payroll Association prior to enrolling in the Introduction
to Payroll Management course.
