Learning Plans

MyOWNMcMaster allows you to choose from a variety of diploma programs to pair with your degree studies in History. 
To begin the degree pathway, students can select any of the following diploma programs: 

Diploma courses are offered in-class (evening and weekend), and/or online.  

After completing your diploma… 

Upon completion of 60 units of academic study with CCE, you will complete the remaining 30 units of study with the History program, Faculty of Humanities. History courses are delivered in-class (days, evenings, and weekends) and a select number are available online.

You can also fulfill the program requirements by taking all or some courses in person, at the McMaster main campus. Please refer to the course lists below, and see the University Calendar for course descriptions.

*The History Department is developing the following 10 courses for online delivery. The online courses will be phased in from fall 2015 – 2017.  

The Centre for Continuing Education will provide student information to the Faculty of Humanities prior to the student’s completion of his/her 60 units of study with CCE.  

The commencement of courses with the Faculty of Humanities – History is based on the completing 60 units of study consisting of:  
  • Completion of one Diploma program offered by the Centre for Continuing Education; 
  • Completion of elective courses offered by the Centre for Continuing Education; 
  • Successful completion of Business Communications Course (3 units); 
  • Cumulative average of B+, or above, based on 60 units of study taken with the Centre for Continuing Education. 
MyOWNMcMaster students must adhere to the academic standard and requirements established by the Faculty of Humanities, Bachelor of Arts, degree studies, and the Department of History program requirements.
