Learn the foundation of building a database and the pitfalls to avoid.  Learn the fundamentals of building Tables, applying Data Types, and establishing a Relationship between these tables.  Discover how to set field properties to help maintain accurate data input.  Learn how to create Input Masks, Validation Rules, and how to customize Date & Time formats.  Learn how to use the Find, Sort, Filter and many more options available to manipulate data within a table.

Access 2010 Fundamentals: Manipulating a Database  COT 609

Learn how to extract specific data from your database using Queries.  Varous Criteria functions will be used to manipulate what data you want to Query. Discover how to create Parameter Queries, Calculated Fields, use Concatenation to join fields, and how the Update Query feature works.  Learn how to create basic Forms, and forms with sub-forms to make it easier for inputting data into multiple tables.  Also learn how to create & manipulate reports so you can Sort, Group & organize information you want printed.  We will also work behind the scenes to manipulate the objects within Forms & Reports.                                                    

Workshop Prerequisites: 

Participants should be proficient in using a keyboard and a mouse, and should possess familiarity with a Windows operating system (e.g. folders, files, opening and saving documents, etc.).
